The Mighty God in Your Midst

โ€œThe LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.โ€
โ€”Zephaniah 3:17

Here is the good news: the Lord God has not changed. He was mighty before the world was created, and He remains mighty today. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of Godโ€”the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and the Creator of all things. He has not lost any of His ancient power, and He never will.

God is still upon His throne, and He will always remember His own. Child of God, you are never alone. Whatever you may be going through, the Lord sees it. He knows your pain, He cares about your troubles, and He loves you with an everlasting love. Though trials may confront us and troubles may distress us, He has promised never to leave nor forsake us.

Governments may disappoint us. Banks may fail us. Friends and even family members may let us downโ€”but Jesus never fails. Glory to His wonderful name!

Zephaniah 3:17 reminds us that the Lord our God is mighty and that He is in our midst. He sees every tear, knows every name, and understands every problem. There is no situation beyond His wisdom and no difficulty greater than His power.

Perhaps you are praying for a wayward son or daughter. Despite everything you have done for them, they continue to find trouble. They may want the blessings associated with Christianity, yet they do not want to be born again or forsake their old way of life. You have prayed faithfully, but nothing seems to have changed. The enemy whispers, โ€œYour prayers are useless. They will never return.โ€

Do not listen to the enemy. Listen to God. Read His Word, believe His promises, and remember that His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!

He is not only your Lord and your God; He is the mighty One who dwells in your midst. He is above you, beneath you, around you and, through His Spirit, within you. Wherever you go, He is there.

The Lord also promises that He will save. Picture that family member, son or daughter, kneeling before Christ and receiving His forgiveness. Continue to pray, continue to believe, and never give up hope. God is able to reach the hardest heart and restore the most wayward life.

Expect God to answer when you prayโ€”but trust Him to answer according to His perfect wisdom and timing. The miracle may not come in the way or at the moment you expect, but God remains faithful.

The mighty God is in your midst. He will save, He will quiet you with His love, and He will rejoice over you with singing. Therefore, child of God, take courage: you are never alone.
